PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Amentum is currently seeking a Warehouse Specialist Team Lead for the Hazardous Materials Minimization Center (HMMC) Okinawa.  Under a United States Marine Corps Installation Pacific (MCIPAC) contract, HMMC provides hazardous material and hazardous waste support services to the US Marines Corps, unit and tenant customers located on Okinawa.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Warehouse Specialist Lead performs a variety of warehousing duties that require an understanding of the operation's storage plan.  In addition to the essential responsibilities, the Warehouse Specialist Lead provides daily work assignment to Warehouse Specialists assigned to the work center, which includes performance of general duties and responsibilities associated with the efficient flow of materials and processes associated with the warehouse function.

This position has a rotating shift and will be subject to shift changes, weekend, holiday and overtime work.  Shift work, weekends, mandatory overtime (with proper notice given) and cross-training can be required in order to meet daily/weekly workload requirements. The Warehouse Specialist Lead is a working employee charged with the responsibility of leading, directing, and approving the work of Warehouse Specialists.  Position reports to a manager. Arranges and takes inventory of stored Hazardous Material (HM), examines stored HM and reports deterioration and damage.  Removes HM from storage and prepares it for delivery or disposition. Operates hand or power trucks/vehicles in performing warehousing duties. Verifies material, shipments, and orders against receiving documents; notes and reports discrepancies and obvious damages; route materials to prescribed storage locations; stores, stacks or palletizes material in accordance with prescribed storage methods. Makes detailed work allocations to accomplish priority tasks. Responsible for furnishing sufficient and accurate information to management and to employees working under his/her direction. Interprets information, answer questions, reviews and checks/inspects work, and eliminates ordinary difficulties.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.

  • Twelve months of hazardous materials or hazardous waste related experience and training required.  Post high school training or experience in hazardous material/waste handling and safety procedures preferred. 

  • Working knowledge of hazardous material handling techniques. 

  • Must possess a valid driver's license or have the ability to obtain one with 30 days of start date.

  • Must be able to obtain a forklift license within 45 days of start date.

  • Must complete training mandated by the company within 30 days of start date.

  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos and have the ability to write simple correspondence.

  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization.

  • Ability to apply instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. 

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Forklift experience preferred. 

  • Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) certified within the past year preferred.

  • Two (2) years' experience working in a hazardous material operations and knowledge and experience with waste disposal operations preferred.

  • Current Overseas Hazardous Waste Facility Operations (OFACOPS) certification
