Role Title: Wide Area Networks Engineer

Role Description: The Commonwealth requires the services of a Command and Control (C2) Application Interface Engineer to supplement the contractor workforce within the LNIC. This proposal seeks to engage an advanced practitioner (Level 3). The role requires a combination of disciplines including communications network engineering, software engineering, systems integration, innovation, test and evaluation, and documentation (technical and security).

The position is primarily a technical hands-on role and will be expected to contribute to the design, implementation and configuration of C2 applications and related software to ensure digital integration and passage of information across various systems and networks, with a focus on application interfaces and information exchange points. The position will be expected to review technical design documentation and provide advice on integration across land and joint program system interfaces. The position will also contribute to capability development and configuration control tasks of C4ISR related applications and technologies on networks within the Land Combat System. This includes Chat technologies, Battle Management Systems, Tactical Data Links as well as VMF, Common Operating Picture systems, Targeting and ISR systems including Geospatial presentation applications.

This role requires advanced expertise in military C2 applications, their configuration and employment within a deployed operating space, while interfacing within enterprise environments. The role will require a strong working knowledge of software configuration and engineering, communications networks engineering, databases, information system protocols and standards, innovation, systems engineering & thinking, test & evaluation, and documentation. The role is primarily aligned to technology and capabilities from, or interfacing to, projects delivered within Land and Joint capability programs (both in-service and emerging), as well as Defence Digital Group. As a technical subject matter expert within a small team the candidate will also be expected to contribute to the design and implementation of military software solutions in LNIC environments, as well as review project design documentation and provide advice on integration across system interfaces.

Domestic travel may be required.

Essential Requirements:

a. Extensive hands-on technical experience in software engineering / development.

b. Working knowledge of open-source and proprietary message formats and application protocols employed in mapping, imagery, position & location information, and messaging.

c. Working knowledge of networking, and virtualisation.

d. Working knowledge of operating systems (e.g. Windows, Linux and/or Android).

e. Working knowledge with integrating applications and middleware in closed environments.

f. Experience supporting Defence or government projects.

g. Experience in preparing technical and security documentation.

h. Relevant tertiary and/or vocational education in software development / engineering or similar IT fields.

i. Two referees for each candidate, preferably including at least one ADF/APS if applicable.

j. Contractor and their company must be prepared and able to satisfy the requirements of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

1. Relevant experience in configuring and/or employing the below applications:

a. ArcGIS Pro

b. ArcGIS Server

c. SitaWare (HQ/FL)

d. TAK

e. AFATDS

f. AMDWS

g. FAAD-C2

h. SNC TRAX

i. (m)JECL

2. Proficiency in coding languages (C / C++ / Java / Bash / Scratch)

3. Working knowledge and / or experience in Geospatial and DTED rendering

4. Industry certifications in software development

Salary Range Depending on Experience: $180,000 - $197,000

Required Security Clearance Level: NV1 or higher (mandatory for access to classified systems).

The specified person may be required to undergo a security clearance upgrade to NV2 over the course of the contract.
