Amentum, a large government contract company, is seeking a Detention Facility Supervisor to support the Camp Montana East contract in El Paso, TX.

POSITION SUMMARY

A Detention facility supervisor oversees a detention center's daily operations, ensuring detainee safety and security while upholding National Detention Standard 2025(NDS), and ensuring compliance with regulations set by ICE and organizations like the American Correctional Association (ACA).

 Key responsibilities include overseeing inmate intake, housing, and processing, coordinating facility maintenance and logistics, and ensuring compliance with all detention standards and policies. This role requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure. 

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Maintain facility security and safety: Regularly inspect the premises for safety and sanitation standards. Ensure all staff and detainees follow the facility policy and procedures.
  • Oversee detainee management: Monitor detainee activities, resolve conflicts, and address any requests, complaints, or grievances.
  • Manage operational functions: Oversee the intake and release of detainees, manage staffing levels, and coordinate the transportation of detainees.
  • Respond to emergencies: Direct staff and officers during incidents like disturbances, fires, or medical situations.
  • Ensure compliance: Conduct quality assurance inspections to enforce ICE National Detention Standards and ACA standards.
  • Handle administrative tasks: Prepare detailed incident reports, review officer reports for accuracy, and maintain timekeeping records. Maintain detailed records and reports related to detention activities.
  • Provide leadership: Uphold ethical standards, serve as a point of contact for the warden during his/her absence, and manage contract compliance.
  • Facilitate training and development programs for staff.
  • Review and address detainee complaints and grievances.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum eight (8) years demonstrated ability and knowledge to effectively manage projects.
  • Previous supervisory experience in a detention or correctional setting is required, often with a minimum of five (5) years in the field.
  • In-depth knowledge of ICE/Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) detention program objectives, policies, and national detention standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively lead staff, interact with detainees, and prepare accurate reports.
  • The ability to motivate and manage a team, resolve conflicts, and make sound decisions in high-pressure or emergency situations.
  • Ability to work any shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays, in a potentially stressful and unpredictable environment.
  • Must pass a comprehensive background investigation, drug screening, and possess a government security clearance.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree in an associated discipline preferred; two (2) years of experience in related field may be substituted for each year of the four (4) years of college.

WORKING AND LIVING CONDITIONS

This position may be located in an environment with harsh and dangerous working and living conditions. Employees must be willing and able to perform regular job requirements in this environment. Employees must be willing and able to perform physical activities including, but not limited to, heavy lifting and moving of items, parts, assemblies, and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum; climbing in and out of equipment; crawling; and working outdoors. This includes being able to lift and carry 40 pounds of personal protective equipment for extended periods of time and being capable of running and ‘duck & cover’ during emergencies without putting oneself or others at risk.
