Amentum is seeking a Director of Maintenance in Las Vegas, NV.

Under supervision the Sr. Director of Maintenance, is responsible for the safe, orderly, and efficient execution of the Airlift maintenance functions of the company, including all aspects of compliance with applicable Federal Aviation Regulations, applicable DoD directives, and principles of sound maintenance discipline.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provides management of all aircraft and component maintenance activities, to include the work effort of Airlift personnel working as an administrative or technical group.

  • Principal liaison with other departments regarding scheduling and performance of the company approved maintenance program.

  • Plans, schedules, and coordinates subordinate time and daily work operations.

  • Assists in the development and implementation of company maintenance and inspection programs.

  • Coordinates with the Director of Quality to ensure the maintenance of all company aircraft is in accordance with company, governmental, and manufacturers’ standards as to ensure maximum reliability and appearance.

  • Coordinates all maintenance personnel requirements consistent with program scheduling and priorities.

  • Establishes station requirements for maintenance ground support equipment, tooling, maintenance manuals and associated technical data coverage, and ensures accountability and control of all company material associated with aircraft maintenance.

  • Ensures maintenance personnel are fully qualified to accomplish the duties assigned to them, evaluates, and documents maintenance employee performance, and makes recommendations to higher level management concerning hires, promotions, raises, and terminations.

  • Endeavors to increase the technical knowledge of maintenance personnel by urging their continuous reference to and study of all material and literature available.

  • Engages in discussions and studies related to maintenance to determine the efficient use of personnel and making changes to procedures to facilitate an environment of continuous improvement and increased productivity.

  • In coordination with the Director of Quality, provide compliant initial and recurrent maintenance training to ensure the safe and economical operation of the fleet.

  • Interviews prospective employees.

  • Counsels and advises employees.

  • Writes reports and completes other routine correspondence. Must communicate effectively with customers as a representative of the company.

  • Participates in advisory groups concerning training and management.

  • Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Graduation from a two to four-year college, technical institute or equivalent formal technical or military training.

  • Possess 10 years heavy aircraft maintenance experience, including three years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.

  • Possess managerial knowledge and skills acquired through formal or self-study as well as on-the-job training.

  • Must possess and maintain a current FAA Airframe and Powerplant license.

  • Must possess a thorough knowledge of Aircraft Maintenance manuals, FAA regulations, and Company policies and procedures.

  • Possess familiarity with computer-based software to monitor department maintenance activities.

  • Possess effective oral and written communication skills for effective day-to-day work unit supervision.

  • Possess planning and organizational skills and effectively perform work under deadlines.

  • Must qualify for and maintain a US Government security clearance and work location access.  Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a US Government security clearance.

  • Possess a current state issued driver’s license.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

Involves moderate lifting, walking, climbing, standing, stooping, stretching, and squatting involved in moving equipment, boarding and de-boarding the aircraft and occasional cargo handling. Complying with deadlines and flight schedule changes may cause increased stress levels for extended periods of time. The work is primarily performed in an office, shop and flight-line working environment in proximity to aircraft, ground support equipment and engine noise. The incumbent must travel routinely to company, customer, and vendor locations.
