About the Opportunity

Nuclear Power Programmes are delivering client critical works to some of our major UK and European Projects. Our embedded teams are delivering support to Hinkley Point C (New build power station in the South West), Sizewell C (located in the South East), helping develop technologies in SMR (Small modular Reactor) capability and working towards building Poland's first Nuclear Power station.

Working in both client facing and internal roles we are delivering major programme and project management capabilities throughout the project lifecycle. We are driving to deliver safe, high quality and to time solutions by thinking innovatively and working collaboratively.

The Hinkley Point C Equipment Programme is responsible for delivering the bulk of the mechanical, electrical and process equipment that will form the working power station. The contracts may be for discrete components or complete systems and will be delivered in partnership with NNB’s global supply chain. Contracts range from £250k to £150m. Input design is completed by the EDF Responsible Designer, with the detail design completed by the equipment supplier.

We are currently looking to recruit an Equipment Engineer to provide professional, high quality mechanical engineering support to the HPC Project on behalf of the Engineering Delivery Function of the NNB Technical Directorate and to ensure that the proposed design is compliant with UK regulations and context.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Perform technical review and acceptance of design documentation provided by the RD and suppliers
  • Assist the Project Manager in the completion of tasks to support the design sub-processes
  • Ensure unresolved technical issues are addressed and an adequate conclusion reached
  • Challenge design decisions so that engineering and design aligns with the project strategy
  • Work effectively with and maintain a strong relationship with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Support the Design Authority when communicating with the Regulators on matters associated with design
  • Assist in co-ordinating support from other external organisations.


  • Degree in a relevant science or engineering subject
  • Chartered Engineer status preferred
  • Experience within the Nuclear Industry preferred
  • Knowledge of design processes and activities related to Nuclear Industry
  • Good project management and organisational skills
  • Understanding of quality requirements and practices
  • Knowledge of budget and schedule management
  • Overall project commercial awareness
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation including CDM and Nuclear Site License requirements
  • Good communication skills and ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
