Electrical Lineman

Amentum is seeking an Electrical Lineman in the Williamsburg area of Virginia. The Lineman provides High Voltage Electrical support to the facility we maintain. The Lineman must perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision. The Lineman must be able to work independently or as an integrated team, while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations.

Job Requirements:

  • Comply with all applicable safety- and health-related rules, regulations, and procedures
  • Work safely themselves and help their teammates work safely
  • Assist supervisors and managers in identifying and mitigating potentially hazardous conditions
  • Help the organization maintain a safe and healthy workplace
  • Interact professionally with other employees, customers, and suppliers
  • Lineman must be able to wire, terminate, perform switching
  • Understand electrical drawings
  • Complete complex critical electrical tie-ins and outages

Minimum Requirements:

  • US Citizen
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid Class B Commercial License
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance at time of application
  • Journeyman or Master Electrician certified preferred
  • Experience with utility trucks and aerial work platform (bucket truck) operations
  • Maintain and operate an automated medium voltage substation
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Must be in good physical shape/condition for climbing in and out of tight restricted spaces
  • Must be able to complete assigned tasks in a reasonable amount of time determined by foreman
  • Must be able to work independently or as an integrated team to complete complex critical electrical tie-ins and outages
  • Good working knowledge of NEC codes
  • Operation of 15kv switches and breakers
  • Wire pulling, wire terminations
  • Use of Hydraulic crimper
  • Work from descriptions and read and work from blue prints
  • Must have a good attitude and be willing to work with other tradesmen. 
  • As needed, required to provide assistance to other trades with service and work orders
  • Desired: first-aid, CPR, and AED trained
  • Construct, repair, troubleshooting, and maintain electrical distribution lines on poles, towers, structures, transformers, and underground electrical distribution lines and cables
  • Safe operation of Line Trucks
  • Read/record meters
  • Write maintenance reports
