Purpose: The ESOH Specialist is responsible for inspecting and evaluating the workplace, equipment and practices for adherence to the Environmental Safety and Health Program (implemented by the ESH Manager) and government health and safety standards and regulations.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops, implements, and monitors company environmental safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations.

  • Maintains safety equipment inventory, performs periodic safety inspections, monitors hazardous waste removal vendors, and may assist in consolidating hazardous waste (chemical, radioactive, and/or medical).

  • Interacting with a variety of departments, conducts training in emergency response and hazardous material handling.

  • Monitors environmental compliance and maintains liaison with appropriate regulatory agencies.

  • Recommends corrective action where environmental health and safety hazards exist.

  • Interacts with others in the administration of the worker’s compensation program and the implementation of workplace ergonomics and program solutions.

  • Monitors industrial health compliance.

  • Ensures strict compliance with safety practices and support the Safety Policies and Procedures.

  • Instills a safety-first mentality within respective work areas and a culture that achieves low accident rates and minimal lost-time injuries.

  • Adheres to ISO Policies, Procedures, and Work Instructions in support of Quality Management System.

  • Performs all other position-related duties as assigned or requested.

 

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree. Two (2) years’ job-related experience may be substituted for each year of education.

 

Experience:

  • Performs all other position-related duties as assigned or requested.

 

Specialized Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Must have comprehensive knowledge of DoD, OSHA, OEBGD, ISO 9001:2008 and 14001 standards, hazardous waste management, and other applicable Federal regulations.

  • Must have excellent problem-solving skills.

  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communications skills, both oral and written.

  • Must be customer service focused.

  • Must be able to work efficiently alone and as a team member.

  • Must be able to exercise discretion and good judgment.

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft office suite and related applications (Excel, WORD, PowerPoint, Access & Outlook).

Certification, License & Clearance:

  • Professional certification/accreditation (STS, OHST, SMS, CSP etc.), desired.

  • Valid US Driver’s license is required. International driver’s license prior to deployment, preferred.

  • US Citizenship is required.

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a CAC, if required.

 

Facility credentials/authorization required:

Must be able to obtain and maintain facility and credential /authorization:

Note- US Citizenship is required for facility credential/authorization at this work location.

 

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

  • Ability to perform job duties efficiently and effectively.

  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.

  • Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions including dust and high temperatures.

  • Must be able to endure long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.

  • When performing work, responsible for adhering to environmental, safety, and health standards related to the activity, including the wearing of all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). 

  • Valid US Driver’s license is required. International driver’s license prior to deployment, preferred.

Other Responsibilities:
