Responsible for delivering technical instruction to adult learners in aircraft maintenance disciplines, including airframe, powerplant, avionics, and systems operations. This role includes developing lesson plans, creating and updating Plans of Instruction (POIs), and facilitating engaging learning experiences for adult learners. The ideal candidate has strong instructional design skills and experience teaching in professional or technical fields with deep hands-on aircraft maintenance experience.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and deliver instructional content tailored to adult learners.
  • Ensure that training milestones and goals are met

•Develop, revise, and maintain POIs and lesson plans based on technical manuals, maintenance best practices, and training standards (e.g., USAF, OEM)

•Facilitate in-person training sessions using a variety of instructional methods (e.g., lecture, hands-on, case study)

  • Evaluate and assess learner performance through quizzes, practical exercises, and feedback
  • Coordinate with quality assurance personnel, maintenance leads, and SMEs to ensure training content remains current and technically accurate
  • Ensure training content aligns with applicable maintenance documentation (TOs, OEM manuals, etc.)
  • Identify and assess future and current training needs through job analysis and consultation with managers
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Education and Experience:

  • A minimum of four (4) years documented experience, within the last ten (10) years on F-15 and/or F-16s is preferred
  • Formal instructor certification (military or commercial) required, Air Force Basic Instructor Course (BIC) preferred
  • Quality Assurance/ Quality Control experience preferred
  • Extremely organized and detail-oriented
  • Excellent leadership and motivational skills
  • Ability to instruct and mentor individuals on technical topics and principles
  • Thorough understanding of Aircraft maintenance training requirements
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in adult education, instructional design, or technical training
  • Familiarity with technical data systems and maintenance documentation.
  • Proven ability in developing and delivering lesson plans, POIs, and training aids
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design principles
  • Strong communication and classroom facilitation skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel); experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) preferred
  • Ability to obtain Secret Clearance
  • Must complete Training Certifications required by Virginia Works within six (6) months of hire date
