Role Title: Network Technician
Role Description: This function will work under limited direction to perform and achieve moderately complex tasks within an integrated ADF workforce. They will liaise with stakeholders of all levels, building good working relationships and providing a point of contact for enquiries.
Outcomes:
-Deliver Engineering and Technical expertise to facilitate efficient and effective conduct of events in accordance with the Event schedule.
- Actively participate in exercise planning conferences.
- Manage the schedule for ADF Operations including resource management.
- Develop documents for Operations, and
- Effectively mentor and developed junior staff to provide redundancy of resources.
Duties include:
• Simulation software/network technical support with complex engineering systems.
• Integration of components, systems and sub-systems including new acquisitions.
• Undertake system modelling and develop system architecture using digital software and tools.
• Documentation and maintenance of configuration status (baselining documentation with system configuration).
• Establishing and implementing change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and successful changes to the network infrastructure.
• Modification of the system architecture comprising of hardware, software, network protocol and documentation suite/s.
• System administrator responsibilities including but not limited to failure mode analysis and resolution as well as operator access for the purposes of event conduct.
• The provision of systems administration support including service pack releases, patches, hot fixes and security configuration.
• Facilitation and coordination of Test and Evaluation to support integration of distributed training connections across multiple Australian Defence Force Units and coalition partners.
• Support maintenance of ICT Security accreditation
• Exercise support including efficient and effective engineering/technical support to synthetic and blended exercises.
• Monitoring systems performance, system resource utilisation and capacity ensuring availability and reliability.
• Obsolescence management, ensuring issues are identified and resolve in a timely manner.
Support coaching, mentoring and advice to ADF personnel and other system users.
Essential Requirements:
- Experience in networking and systems architecture.
- Systems administration experience.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to prioritise and adapt to changing work demands.
- Ability to support overseas exercises which includes during US time zones.
Salary Range Depending on Experience: $160-190k package
Required Security Clearance Level: NV1
Location: HMAS Kuttabul (Sydney)
Weekly Hours: 40hours, requirement to be flexible around US time zones for exercise periods which could result in overnight activities.
