Amentum, a global leader in designing, engineering, and modernizing critical systems and programs of national importance across defense, security, intelligence, energy, and the environment, is seeking a Operations / Deputy Project Manager for a pending contract award.

POSITION SUMMARY

Plans, directs, controls and monitors the Strategic Business Unit (SBU) and support program to ensure satisfactory completion of the program objectives.

Other duties include:

  • Monitor the performance of work to ensure it is done in accordance with cost, schedules, contractual and customer requirements.
  • Contribute to the achievement of market development goals.
  • Provide organization leadership.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, standards and procedures and governmental regulations.
  • Resolve conflicts or controversy to facilitate meeting established company objectives.
  • Under limited direction, is responsible for the overall direction of a market area, geographic area or group that supports a small volume of work and/or small to medium sized project(s), with a large percentage of subcontracted work.
  • Develop and maintain customer contracts.
  • Involved planning, developing and coordinating project related activities.
  • Provide technical directions to key project personnel.
  • Perform all other position-related duties as assigned or requested.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in managing an operation size and scope similar to Camp Lemonier, Djibouti, Africa.
  • Knowledge and experience includes, but is not limited to: construction methods, engineering, estimating, equipment, materials, contract administration, subcontractor management, claim negotiations, project controls, labor relations, finance, manpower development and utilization and the development and maintenance of customer and competition contacts.
  • Excellent communication, effective leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of Department of Defense, Navy and United States government structure and agency procedures and policies for identifying and developing potential business opportunities.
  • Knowledge of various computer skills desirable (ex: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required
  • Additional knowledge/skills may be required by contract or assignment.
  • Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment.
  • Active Clearances required:  Must have an Active Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to maintain a Secret Clearance.
  • Common Access Card is required.

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or equivalent, some college preferred

WORKING AND LIVING CONDITIONS

This position may be located in an environment with harsh and dangerous working and living conditions. Employees must be willing and able to perform regular job requirements in this environment. Employees must be willing and able to perform physical activities including, but not limited to, heavy lifting and moving of items, parts, assemblies, and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum; climbing in and out of equipment; crawling; and working outdoors. This includes being able to lift and carry 40 pounds of personal protective equipment for extended periods of time and being capable of running and ‘duck & cover’ during emergencies without putting oneself or others at risk.
