Senior Materials Specialist
The Senior Materials Specialist will be based at one of three Amentum sites in Iraq and serve the Operations and Maintenance Support Services (OMSS) contract in support of the U.S. Department of State. This position will be responsible for taking ownership of supply chain services, including receiving, stocking, inventorying, issuing and shipment of goods. This position will report to the Warehouse Supervisor. The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.
DUTIES:
- Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring that safety is the highest priority in the workplace.
- Comply with all Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements and goals. Provide information and materials to these divisions as necessary to ensure adequate and legal documentation.
- Provide daily work assignments and supervise Logistics personnel in the Shipping and Receiving functions.
- Oversee the development and performance of warehouse personnel and activities as they relate to the movement of all material throughout the compound and between sites.
- Participate in inventory and cycle counts.
- Coordinate and process all Return to Vendor damaged merchandise.
- Oversee the tracking and movement of material shortages/overages to their designated areas.
- Ensure receiving and inventoried area is maintained in a safe, clean, and orderly fashion.
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled inspections.
- Maintain an on-site inventory of supplies and materials to ensure timely response and completion of routine or emergency site repairs.
- Ensure proper material controls are in place and operations are in compliance with established Property Management and Control Plan (PMCP), SOW, and Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) standards.
- Coordinate with all freight forwarding companies and DHL personnel to schedule timely delivery of material and the processes needed to provide access for delivery to the compound.
- Be aware of normal property procedures as it pertains to US Government property in accordance with FAR regulations.
- Report any malfunctions, or lack of compliance with the PMCP and SOW to the PMO and Supply Chain managers.
- Maintain effective, timely and respectful communication and interaction with other employees, managers and supports other organizations.
- Implement section priorities with logistics, procurement, and warehouse team.
- Collect, analyze, and summarize data for report preparation and submits written reports.
- Perform other administrative tasks including material ordering, inventory and work scheduling.
- Responsible for facility custodianship of work areas and management of vehicles, material handling equipment, tools and spare parts.
- Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.
REQUIRED:
- Minimum Acceptable Experience Level:
- Three (3) to seven (7) years’ progressive experience, including small staff management, in a high volume, multi-unit receiving/inventory or supply management environment.
- Experience with supply chain management (SCM) systems particularly in relation to accurate inventory management.
- Experience and knowledge of materials-accountability, loss prevention and logistical scheduling.
- Experience working independently with various functions and disciplines of supply chain and operations.
- Experience with analysis and research using the MS Office Suite of programs.
- Handling of U.S. Government property procedures.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability to achieve high standards of customer service.
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision with a strong focus on procedural compliance and customer service.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Understanding how inventory affects company contractual obligations.
- Knowledge of MAXIMO, AMRO and Cost Point.
- Knowledge of principles and processes involved in supporting contract responsibilities at an overseas facility.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules.

- Computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Education: A high school diploma or GED. Successful completion of a two or four-year curriculum from an accredited college or university leading to an Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in supply-chain or logistics management is preferred.

Passport, Licenses and Certifications: As part of pre-contingency requirements, by the time the visa process starts, candidates must possess a valid passport with a minimum of 18 months remaining to expiration date with 8 blank pages. Valid drivers’ license from Home of Record.

Security Vetting: Already possess a Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT) or be able to obtain a favorable MRPT certification prior to being hired is required for the position. Must maintain eligibility at the required certification level for the duration of the contract.

Language Skills: Satisfactory English proficiency to meet job requirements and to adhere and comply with safety, health, and security measures.

Medical: Successfully complete and pass the medical and dental examinations as required by Amentum and our customer for deployment to Iraq. Must maintain physical and dental requirements for duration of deployment.
DESIRED:
- Previous out of home country experience and previous work experience in harsh environmental conditions are a plus.
- Experience working with Amentum.

WORKING AND LIVING CONDITIONS:
This position may be located in a war zone, in an environment with harsh and dangerous working and living conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may regularly be exposed to extreme and austere desert-like environment. Temperatures can reach 120- 130 degrees Fahrenheit/50-55 degrees Celsius during the summer months. Employees must be willing and able to perform regular job requirements in this austere, extreme environment, as well as willing and able to deploy to Iraq for extended periods. Work schedules are a minimum of 6 days per week and 10 hours per day, while some jobs have higher daily and weekly minimums. Employees must be willing and able to perform physical activities including, but not limited to, heavy lifting and moving of items, parts, assemblies, and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum; climbing in and out of equipment; crawling; and working outdoors. This includes being able to lift and carry 40 pounds of personal protective equipment for extended periods of time and being capable of running and ‘duck & cover’ during emergencies without putting oneself or others at risk.
