DUTIES :
Provide quality control support to the project team and direct personnel to implement quality
requirements and to accurately status the results. Perform construction quality control inspection and
surveillance activities in support of project and/or maintenance activities.
Safety is a primary responsibility in each job performed. Obtain safety training, obey safety rules. and
make safety an integral part of each task. Take the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is
unsafe or will create an unsafe condition.
Review design output documents in accordance with approved procedures in order to establish
inspection requirements in quality assurance procedures, construction plans, and/or work packages.
Coordinate with internal and external sources to resolve quality issues and provide status of the
inspection/test activities for the work activity. Review technical criteria, personnel qualifications and
work sequence on work packages including the notation of hold points prior to performance of
inspections. Perform or direct the quality inspection activities of subordinate QC engineers and other
inspection personnel as assigned. Assist in resolution of code, specifications and drawing interpretations.
Perform or supervise the performance of inspection, witness, test, surveillance, and documents the
results of the inspection activities. Assess the completeness of construction activities and quality
verification documentation prior to preparation of quality control releases for turnover. Review
subcontractor's quality program for compliance to established procedures, attends mobilization
meetings and monitors their activities for proper implementation. Review suppliers and/or
subcontractor's quality verification documentation for traceability and specification compliance. Review,
assess and status subcontractors' costs, manpower and materials. Approve subcontracts invoices and
application for payment.
Work Hours: A 40 hour work week is scheduled. SRNS utilizes various work schedules including 5/8s
(8 hour/day; five days per week), 4/10’s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and 9/80’s (9 hours/day, five
days on week AA and four days on week BB. Work week excludes SRNS holidays. Each workday has
30-minute lunch. Overtime will be expected at times to meet deliverables and will be utilized at the
discretion of the Manager.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Education: Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and at least 5 - 7 years of practical experience in
construction inspection or related areas. An associate’s degree and 7 - 9 years of practical experience
would be considered equivalent. A high school diploma and 10 - 14 years of practical experience would
also be considered equivalent. Certification with continuing technical training is required for
performance of inspections and surveillance activities. Specialized training may also be required to
support certain technical areas.
Experience/Skills:
• Practical field experience in electrical and instrumentation and controls (I&C) quality control.
• Well-developed organizational skills with good communication talents.
• Foster a work environment that promotes safety, quality, openness, trust, communication,
teamwork, and customer satisfaction.
• Develop, revise, and perform peer reviews of Quality Control Inspection Plans related to
electrical and I&C, in accordance with Design Output documents, Codes, and Standards.
• Perform field related inspections in accordance with Quality Control Inspection Plans. Document
inspection results on applicable inspection records and issue Non-Conformance reports as
required.
• Review product and process compliance with all specified drawings, specifications, and other
requirements through inspection and/or review of supplied materials and equipment.
OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Area Security Access: Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance.
Subcontractor must have an active eFOCI registration and approved Facility Level Clearance with DOE /
NNSA.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years are
preferred.
