Purpose and Scope:

The Service Person functions as key member of a multi-skilled team to safely and effectively maintain assigned facility infrastructure equipment. The Service Person provides a professional service in the execution of technical repair & maintenance of all assigned facility infrastructure equipment. This includes elements of planning, organization, coordination, scheduling, training, and resource management associated with the day-to-day maintenance of the facility.

The Service Person performs maintenance service or repairs in two or more skill areas including plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering and electrical repair/installation under supervision. This includes, but is not limited to, maintenance of Evaporative Coolers and blower units, pumps, weekly maintenance tasks on fixed and mobile plant & safety inspections. Scope of work will range from inspections and maintenance, minor repairs, servicing and where necessary assist in the replacement of equipment. The Service Personnel also provide support to trades and other personnel, as well as undertaking general service duties, cleaning, documentation and other tasks as required in a manner that maximizes productivity and equipment reliability.

Within this team the Service Person must contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, supporting the implementation of improvement initiatives and technical advance as well as having the ability to think on their feet and complete assigned tasks to a high standard.

This position reports to the Maintenance Superintendent, collaborating with Facilities Operations Team, other Facilities Maintainers and OASIS departments to foster, promote and maintain best-practice standards and enable reliable, consistent and effective maintenance and operation of facility systems. This role is key to the success of the broader O&M team and thus also works closely with all Facilities O&M personnel in the delivery of high-quality facility O&M services to enable the mission.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Perform building operations maintenance for the facility in accordance with established environmental and safety procedures.
  • Oversee building custodian services and grounds maintenance as directed.
  • Responsible for the accurate and timely completion of job-related documents, such as Work Orders, time sheets and safety reports. Job-related documentation requires inputting and processing information from paper Work Orders into digital systems
  • Support office service functions such as shipping/receiving, stocking of supplies, operation of copiers, postage meter, etc.
  • Operate trucks, forklifts, hoists and other material handling equipment.
  • Perform minor electrical repairs/replacement under supervision.
  • Performs filter, heat exchanger, and equipment cleaning, to include painting of equipment.
  • Performs hanging doors, removal/replacement of lighting fixtures, resetting commodes, etc.
  • Assist in other areas of facilities and maintenance area from time to time, as required.
  • Ensure, promote, and maintain health and safety practices/compliances at site and within the workplace
  • Any other reasonable duties as requested

QUALIFICATIONS 

Minimum Essential

  • Strong understanding of Work Health Safety (WHS) Act, and EHS policies & procedures.
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience working within Facility Maintenance or similar technical environment
  • Strong understanding of facility maintenance requirements (preventive, predictive, & corrective)
  • Demonstrated high level of problem solving, decision making and analytical skills
  • Must be an Australian Citizen

Desirable

  • Enterprise Resource Planning experience. (SAP, Archibus)
  • Proficient level of computer skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite 

TICKETS AND LICENCES

Minimum Essential

  • Certificate II in Construction Pathways or,
  • Equivalent demonstrated experience
  • Field:  Trade and Construction
  • Drivers Licence
  • Trade Certificate
  • White Card (Construction Induction)

Desirable:

  • Working at Heights
  • First Aid/CPR
  • Confined Spaces
  • Forklift License
  • Elevated Work Platform License
  • LR/MR Drivers License

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • 2-4 years’ experience in Trade and Construction Industry.
  • Considerable knowledge of and skill in use of hand and power woodworking equipment and machinery, including but not limited to saws, planers, routers, radial arm saws, hand and portable power tools, and measuring devices
  • Troubleshooting skills
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with varied stakeholders

WORK ENVIRONMENT, PHYSICAL DEMANDS, AND MENTAL DEMANDS

  • The position is desk based and sedentary in nature, the ability to lift items up to 5kgs may be required occasionally.
  • Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 10kgs, kneeling, standing and walking, routinely sitting and constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, and must be able to work under deadlines.
  • The employee is frequently required to walk, sit, use hands to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand.

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT

It is a condition of employment that employees obtain and retain the appropriate level of security clearance and medical clearance applicable to each role. The employee will require a Top-Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) Department of Defence Security Clearance (Australian).

STATEMENT OF WORK REQUIREMENTS

All personnel assigned to work shall be:

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Able to fluently read, write and speak English

EHS REQUIREMENT

All Amentum personnel are responsible for understanding and complying with all site environmental, health and safety requirements. While Amentum is responsible for providing a safe workplace and is responsible for ensuring compliance with requirements of the EHS Handbook, each person is responsible for:

  • Completing work tasks in a safe manner
  • Reporting any unsafe acts or conditions to their supervisor and/or PMO/EHS Manager
  • Continuous adherence to the environmental, health and safety procedures outlined in the EHS Handbook during the performance of their work
  • Red-Carding a Job - Employee right and responsibility to “STOP WORK” if a job is unsafe or possess a danger to the environment
