Amentum is a trusted partner to United States government agencies, allied governments, and corporations worldwide and we are looking for you to support our Strategic Microelectronics Radiation Hardening program as a Short-Pulse Gamma (SPG) Technician. You might be just who we are looking for!

Duties include:

  • Startup, operation, and shut down of the SPG machine, including:
    • Confirming pre-operational conditions are satisfactory before startup
    • Energizing and starting ancillary and support equipment
    • Performing minor operational adjustments of support equipment
    • Operation of the SPG to produce radiation for on-site test customers
    • Evaluating and analyzing post-radiation shot waveforms to ensure performance of the SPG
    • Troubleshooting and repair of the SPG and its components
    • Performing periodic maintenance on the SPG and support equipment
  • Maintain continuous awareness and exercise controls in the test area to ensure maximum confidence in test results
  • Ensure resources are available and procedures are adequate for proper testing
  • Make technical decisions based on skills and training in the use of test equipment and systems
  • Notify and discuss technical problems with engineering personnel, contractors, or other government representatives
  • Cross-training on the Flash X-Ray (FXR) machine

Minimum Requirements:

  • Vocational/technical training beyond high school in a related field and 3-5 years of job-related experience or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of computer hardware and software as well as mechanical, electrical, and electronic skills
  • Knowledge of electronic components and device operating characteristics
  • Experience with electronics test equipment
  • Working knowledge of high-reliability electronic parts inspection and electronics theory; such as resistors, capacitors, diodes, and magnetics
  • Good written communication skills, organizational skills, and the ability to perform detail-oriented work are required.
  • Ability to pass and maintain a DoD Security Clearance (Note: Us Citizenship is required to obtain a clearance)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Working knowledge of integrated circuits
  • Independent hands-on experience with Oscilloscopes and Power Supplies
  • Familiarization with radiation-producing machines or radiation environments
  • Experience working as a contractor to or as an employee of the United States Government
