We are currently seeking a Software Developer in Hanover, MD. The applicant will be part of a web application development team utilizing modern web frameworks to build innovative applications. The ultimate goal is to have a new product owner to oversee the application development team who can effectively communicate with their internal teams and the customers.
As a leader of this agile custom application development and integration team you will support working with the government customer to help shape a new phase of features into the current web application environment/learning management system. You will work closely with several internal contractor teams and the customer to ensure that the development of approved requirements into features (during each sprint) operate and function as designed and align with approved user interface standards. To track and report defects, you will leverage an approved ticketing system and work directly with developers and internal customers to describe and detail findings, and potential corrective courses of action.
The software engineer may be involved in all parts of the software process; from configuring and managing the production environment to writing, testing, and deploying the code. If you are a software engineer, self-starter and enterprising person looking to expand your knowledge in all parts of web application development, then this is the position for you.
This is a hybrid position that requires on site presence at least three days a week or as required based on program needs.
Responsibilities:
• Duties will include but not limited to reviewing customer requirements, building web-based user interfaces, and developing code solutions for product backlog items.
• Designing, developing, troubleshooting, web applications for end user.
• Providing input for documentation of new or existing programs, associated documentation, block diagrams and logic flow charts applied to engineering problems.
• Conducting detailed analysis of defined systems specification.
• Verifying accuracy and completeness of programs by preparing sample data, conducting program tests, analyzing test results, and debugging programs errors.
• Collaboration and Communication: Serve as a key technical liaison, collaborating with cross-functional teams including system engineers, software developers, and domain experts. Effectively present and articulate recommended requirement solutions, discussing the tradeoffs and implications of different implementations with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Problem-Solving: Research and troubleshoot complex technical issues, providing innovative solutions to overcome development challenges.
• Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for developed features and processes.

Minimum Education:
• Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related field and five (5) years of applicable software development experience is required.
OR
• A Bachelor’s Degree and five (5) additional years of experience is acceptable for a total of ten (10) years of applicable software development experience.
OR
• Three (3) years of experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s Degree is acceptable, for a total of thirteen (13) years of applicable software development experience.
Minimum Years of Experience:
• Minimum (5) years of applicable software development experience is required.
• Experience developing using one or more of the following languages: Ruby, Ruby on Rails, Python, or C++, JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Requires demonstrated proficiency in web UI interface design using a variety of languages such as HTML, CSS, AJAX, JSON/XML JavaScript and JQuery or similar.
• Experience using SQL/NoSQL and relational databases (MySQL/MongoDB preferred) required.
• A working knowledge of both Windows and Linux platform is required.
• Demonstrated experience with Agile methodologies.
Other requirements:
• Superior verbal and written communication skills and teamwork abilities
• Collaboration: Partner with system architects and other partners to ensure a cohesive and effective development process.
• Developing applications using the MERN stack, showcasing proficiency in MongoDB (or another NoSQL database), Express.js, React, and Node.js. TypeScript a plus
• System Enhancement: Work on both back-end and potentially front-end systems to implement new features and improve existing functionalities.
o Front-End Skills: Strong in HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript
o Back-End Skills: Proficiency in Node.js. Knowledge of express and other backend libraries beneficial
• Practical experience working within an Agile sprint / software development team environment using GitLab, Jira and Confluence (Agile, Git, CI/CD, automated testing, Scrum, Kanban)
• Windows and Linux proficiency
• Self-motivated individual that can think outside the box
Preferred:
• Every development team is different but there are always specific experiences, exposures, and skills that can make the transition a success. These beneficial, but not required, items include experience in or familiarity with:
o Developing applications for Computer Network Operations.
o Developing and deploying applications, services, and systems within virtualized environments, preferably vSphere, Docker, and Kubernetes.
o Designing and developing APIs and dataflow solutions.
o Designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines to enhance the software development lifecycle.
o Developing aesthetically pleasing and user-friendly front ends.
Attendance:
• Attendance is critical at all times. Must be able to work a 40-hour workweek, normally Monday through Friday. However, times and days may vary depending on business requirements. Needs to be available to work overtime during critical peaks and be available to meet last minute requests for overtime should the situation occur.

The base salary range for this position is $230k to $240k. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
