Join a team of Research, Design, Test, & Evaluation (RDT&E) professionals who are identifying, developing, demonstrating, and assessing technologies and concepts to help protect America’s homeland in support of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Science and Technology Directorate (S&T) Office of Mission and Capability Support (MCS).
 
Amentum is actively seeking a Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (C-UAS) Test and Evaluation (T&E) Manager to successfully execute programs in the complex homeland security environment, balancing technical rigor with operational relevance and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will drive project execution in collaboration with DHS S&T leaders, DHS Component staffs, contract team members, vendors, and other subject matter experts and supporting organizations. Candidate will directly manage a team of T&E practitioners and support Amentum-wide C-UAS business development opportunities.
 
The position is remote but must reside within Washington DC, Virginia, or Maryland.

This position is Contingent on a future contract award, not to be executed earlier than October 2026. The candidate must be free of all encumbrances and non-compete obligations prior to start.
 
Essential Responsibilities Include:

  • Serve as Amentum T&E Manager for C-UAS efforts, directly reporting to project leadership to support below activities.
  • Create strategic testing frameworks to evaluate all phases of C-UAS system effectiveness and suitability from initial proof-of-concept through operational deployment. 
  • Develop realistic operational scenarios that replicate actual threat environments across various critical infrastructure settings, to include but not limited to: airports, stadiums, government facilities, US borders, ports of entry, and urban areas. 
  • Lead the planning and execution of small- to large-scale test events involving multiple federal agencies, requiring coordination of airspace, frequency spectrum, personnel, and equipment resources. 
  • Perform comprehensive analysis of test data to evaluate C-UAS system effectiveness across key performance parameters including detection range, classification accuracy, engagement success rates, and collateral damage assessment. 
  • Direct multidisciplinary teams of engineers, scientists, technicians, and contractors throughout all phases of test planning and execution to meet schedule and budget constraints.
  • Ensure all testing activities comply with federal regulations including environmental impact requirements, aviation safety standards, RF emission limits, and explosive safety protocols. 
  • Continuously assess new and evolving UAS threats and C-UAS technologies to ensure test programs remain relevant and comprehensive. 
  • Build and maintain critical relationships with key stakeholders including other federal agencies, industry partners, academic institutions, and international allies to leverage resources, share lessons learned, and avoid duplication of effort, as coordinated through Government channels. 
  • Serve as a technical advisor to Federal and Amentum C-UAS programs, providing expert guidance on C-UAS system requirements, technology readiness assessments, and deployment recommendations based on test results. 
  • Support additional Amentum C-UAS opportunities as directed 

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be able to pass DHS entry of duty (EOD) requirements and maintain Public Trust suitability status
  • Must possess an active U.S. government Secret security clearance.
  • Reside in Virginia, Washington DC, or Maryland.
  • 8+ years relevant C-UAS experience with Master’s degree or 12+ years of relevant CUAS test and evaluation experience with Bachelor's degree
  • Current knowledge of C-UAS systems, C2 architectures, modalities, and TTPs used to detect, identify, track, and mitigate group 1-2 UAS
  • Knowledge of DHS, DoD, or other law enforcement C-UAS efforts during the last eight years
  • Demonstrated mechanical and field operations knowledge
  • Demonstrated experience using MESH networking communications equipment
  • Demonstrated experience using Team Awareness Kit
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply technical data between both engineers and non-technical system users
  • Demonstrated high-level tact and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with word-processing, spreadsheets, and integrated software applications
  • Up to 25% non-local travel may be required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Public Trust designation
  • Active Top Secret security clearance
  • FAA part 107 license
