In this role, you will assist in integrating environmental requirements into project planning, permitting, design, construction, commissioning, startup, and operations. You will provide technical guidance regarding environmental mitigation tasks, participate in emergency response, and conduct inspections. Your work will help ensure project compliance with contract, regulatory, and Amentum requirements.
This position shall be performed under the day-to-day direction, control, and supervision of WTCC
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS
Support the Waste Treatment Plant Nuclear Safety Quality Culture by emphasizing the values of safety and quality in the performance of work in order to protect self, others, and the environment.
Responsible for integrating with Project organizations to ensure environmental issues are resolved.
Has technical responsibility for interpreting complex permit and regulatory requirements for achieving and maintaining compliance.
Interface with the Customer and regulatory agencies while maintaining close coordination with Project Management and Environmental Protection Management.
Ensure that environmental compliance is maintained with Washington State, Department of Energy, and federal environmental requirements during all phases of Project activities.
Provide oversight of Project and subcontractor activities to monitor compliance with environmental requirements along with implementation of the WTP environmental programs and policies.
Support compliance walkdowns, participate in Project teams, and find creative solutions to environmental challenges.
Provide support and technical assistance to other Environmental Protection personnel and interact with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel.
Participates in meetings with customer, Project teams, and subcontractors to advise them of environmental requirements that may affect project.

REQUIREMENTS/SPECIFICATIONS
Education: BS in environmental sciences, field biology, natural resources or related science discipline or engineering field from an accredited university
Experience: 4 years of professional related experience. In lieu of degree, 8 years of environmental-related experience.
Field compliance knowledge to support the implementation of Dangerous Waste, Air, and Wastewater regulations and permit conditions.
Prior practical work experience in field environments (e.g., construction execution and/or operating facilities) performing the responsibilities above.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in the nuclear industry for commercial and/or DOE projects.
Experience with state and federal dangerous waste and department of transportation requirements.
Experience supporting facility start-up and commissioning activities and environmental integration.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
(SHNM-ISH) Safety and Health Non-Manual Industrial Safety & Hygiene
Performs desk work, including writing, computer, etc. in support of line management safety and health needs. Review and generation of Safety and Health reports, records, etc. Development/management of Safety and Health process/procedure, training, metrics, etc. Perform Safety and Health surveillances and assessments.
Records generation, instrumentation and equipment management, and other industrial safety/hygiene functions. Oversights and mentors Line Management and workers on the implementation of industrial safety/hygiene hazard controls. Responds to events providing injury/illness response, monitoring of conditions, etc. Hazard analysis and control determinations in support of project work activities. And conducts oversight and monitoring during work task performance to verify that exposure control mechanisms are sufficient to protect workers.
This position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Must be able to work in the United States without Sponsorship
Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy (DOE) badge for access to the Hanford site.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $89,099.71 - $136,321.63 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
