Purpose: The Estimator is responsible for activities related to estimating all the elements of project cost including labor, materials, equipment, supplies, consumables and expenses, subcontracts, operating costs, contingency, escalation, program risk, etc. Reviews and analyzes relevant documentation to determine work scope and requirements for preparation of estimates/proposals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares or assists in the preparation of cost estimates using appropriate methods and techniques
  • Utilizes the appropriate company and industry historical data for costing estimates.
  • Prepares or assists in the preparation of the project and estimate summaries.
  • Prepares and/or coordinates preparation of full project estimates.
  • Participates in estimate reviews.
  • Establish and maintain cost databases and analysis tools.
  • Develops cash flow schedules and estimates.
  • Prepares scope and bid package breakdowns for subcontract and vendor quotes.
  • Reads and interpret Requests-for-Proposals and contracts.
  • Collaborate with other functions to enhance project success.
  • Instills a safety-first mentality within respective work areas and a culture that achieves low accident rates and minimal lost-time injuries.
  • Adheres to ISO Policies, Procedures, and Work Instructions in support of Quality Management System.
  • Performs all other position-related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

Experience:

  • 3+ years of practical experience in organizing and preparing cost estimates/proposals.
  • Needs to understand estimating terminology, measures, concepts and principles for compiling bid proposals.

Specialized Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Basic understanding of the FAR and government contracts. 
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills are required
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, training and 4+ years of experience in finance or pricing.

Certification, License & Clearance:

  • Maybe required to obtain and maintain a CAC, if required.

Facility credentials/authorization required:

Must be able to obtain and maintain facility and credential /authorization:

Note- US Citizenship is required for facility credential/authorization at this work location.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and outside weather conditions. The employee may be exposed to situations where risk of electrical shock and vibration exist. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of radiation. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
