Amentum is seeking a Senior Exercise Planner to join our team! This is a remote position that includes travel to various locations in the United States.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop the following documents: Warning Orders (WARNOs), Operation Orders (OPORDs), Fragmentary Orders (FRAGOs), Joint Operation Planning and Execution System (JOPES) Newsgroups, Time-Phased Force Deployment Data (TPFDD) and Request for Forces (RFF) Unit Tracking Data, or other as required.
  • Participate in role play to replicate meetings, including the Commander’s Update Brief (CUB), Battle Update Brief (BUB), Operational Synchronization Meetings (OPS SYNC), and others as required.
  • Lead working groups across all Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) regions and numerous states to support the mission across all DoD spectrums.
  • Provide manning, organization and conduct for a Command Post Exercise (CPX) with supporting simulation at the Army level and above.
  • Manage Exercise Control (EXCON) Cells and establish operational positions in direct support of the CPX/Certification Exercise (CERTEX) that enhance and support the execution of the event.
  • Situational Reports (SITREPs), Personnel Statistics (PERSTATs), Logistics Statistics (LOGSTATs), or others as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have 10 plus years’ Military experience with 4-6 years' experience working on the Battalion, Brigade, Division, and or Combatant Command (COCOM) levels in numerous staff positions with responsibilities included in developing WARNOs, OPORDs, FRAGOs, and DEPORDS. Other service equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Must have an active Secret US Government Clearance and maintain for the duration of employment. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret US Government Clearance.
  • Have participated in role playing or have been integrated into senior military staffs to replicate meetings, including the CUB, BUB, and OPS SYNC.
  • Must have working knowledge and experience in providing the manning, organization and conduct for a CPX with supporting simulation at the Army Division level and above.
  • Strong working knowledge of the requirements to establish and run an Exercise Control Cell and possess the ability to establish those operational positions that are in direct support of the Exercise that enhance and support the execution of the event. This includes various cells such as but not limited to a HICON; replicating the Higher HQ; EXCON state; replicating the state emergency response; CCP; the control cell for all EXCON/WHITE cell support; and EXCON LNOs positions with varying elements in support of the exercise.
  • Must have 6-8 years' experience in developing the following documents: WARNOs, FRAGOs, JOPES Newsgroups, TPFDD documents and RFF Unit Tracking Data, Commander Situational Reports (SITREPs), PERSTATs and LOGSTATs. Other service equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Must be willing to travel to various locations across the U.S. for training purposes.
  • Former military experience in exercise planning.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of State or locality operations in which the exercise is being conducted.
  • Proficient in understanding Department of Defense (DoD) unit capabilities and responsibilities during a Defense Support of Civil Authorities (DSCA) event on all levels.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Graduate of US Army Command and General Staff College (CGSC) (or service equivalent)
  • Graduate of US Army School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS) (or service equivalent)
  • Graduate of US Army Sergeants Major Academy (or service equivalent)
  • Graduate of US Army Battle Staff NCO Course (or service equivalent)

Compensation:

The annual starting salary for this position is between $90,000 - $110,000 annually. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
