The Science Integration team seeks a part time, temporary
Geoscientist to support JETS II Amentum contract work for NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. This position is offered part time, temporary and remote.
The Geoscientist will:
- Develop communications strategies and products related to Earth and planetary science, human space flight, and technology development
- Write earth and planetary science articles for NASA outreach initiatives
- Work with geospatial information and large datasets related to planetary imagery and associated metadata
- Perform GIS (geographic information systems) analyses on Earth and planetary imagery data
- Aid in development of machine learning algorithms using object detection techniques
- Develop or improve automated reporting and tracking reports utilizing Sharepoint Online
- Develop new or make recommendations to existing reporting tools for science management and onsite exploration lab managers
- Other duties as assigned
Requisition Qualifications:This position has been posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised.
- Typically requires minimum of 2 years of experience in process control and laboratory operations
- Prior experience at Amentum and/or NASA Johnson Space Center
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
Requisition Preferences: - MS/PhD student in geology or a closely related field

Essential FunctionsWork EnvironmentGenerally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.
Physical RequirementsWork may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).
Equipment and MachinesStandard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).
AttendanceRegular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
