Amentum is seeking a dedicated and efficient Mailroom Clerk to join our team in Moline, IL.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Sort, distribute, and deliver incoming and outgoing mail within the Post Office premises accurately and in a timely manner
  • Operate mail processing equipment, including postage machines, letter openers, and sorting machines
  • Collect and process various types of mail, such as letters, packages, registered mail, and bulk mailings
  • Prepare mail for delivery, including sorting it alphabetically or by postal code
  • Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing mail, including tracking packages and maintaining logs
  • Assist in maintaining inventory of mailing supplies, such as envelopes, stamps, and packaging materials
  • Address and resolve any mail-related issues, including mislabeled or undeliverable mail
  • Collaborate with other postal workers to ensure efficient mail delivery service

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Proven experience working in a mailroom or similar office environment preferred
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in using mail processing equipment, including postage machines and sorting machines
  • Familiarity with postal regulations and procedures is a plus
  • Physical ability to lift and move packages up to 50 pounds

Training:

  • As a Mailroom Clerk, you will receive comprehensive on-the-job training to familiarize yourself with our specific procedures and systems. This training will equip you with the necessary knowledge and tools to excel in your role.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires the ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires the ability to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladder, stepladders, and stairs at least 10 times during shift.
  • Requires the flexibility to bend/stoop, squat repetitive during shift.
  • Requires the ability to regularly kneel repetitive for shift.
  • Requires the ability to move in a 90-degree fashion on a repetitive basis for shift.
  • Requires the ability to stretch/reach on a repetitive basis for shift.
  • Requires the ability to walk extensively throughout the plant during shift.
  • Requires the use of a Company/Client approved utility knife.  
  • Requires the ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding.
  • Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movement.
  • Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.
     

Special Requirements:

  • Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.
